More than ever, childhood has become an indoor pursuit. Many caregivers find themselves thinking that more time in nature would benefit the children in their lives, but they don't know why it would be best for their kids. Not only does going outside:
but being outside also inspires children to care about the environment and the world around them.
Children between the ages of 2 and 10 are spending 18.6 hours a week looking at screens, which is 2.5 times the recommended amount of screentime.4
By the time kids have become teenagers, only 10% between the ages of 13 and 18 will spend time outside each day.5
Girls who are encouraged to spend time outside when they are younger are more
likely to remain active, and those who continue to spend at least an hour
per day outside say they feel more equal with men.6
